Frequently Asked Questions

Are you guys a full time school?

No, we are not a full time school. The Country Schoolhouse is an education resource center that provides supplemental and enrichment educational experiences for both traditional education students (public and private school students) as well as non-traditional education students (homeschoolers). We offer hands-on learning opportunities that apply knowledge from students' core subjects in a practical application.

How much does it cost?

The cost varies for each family/student. Our classes run on semester and monthly schedules. Each families' cost will depend on the number of activities/classes they choose to sign up for each month or semester. Cost will also vary depending on the level of membership each family purchases, as discounts are different for each level.

Do I have to be a member to participate in activities?

You do not have to be a member to attend our Farm Events that we open to the public (i.e. Fishing on the Farm, Star-Gazing Night), nor do you have to be a member to register for classes or camps. Registration for classes and camps open in a stair-step manner, opening to different member levels every 24 hours, beginning with our Gold Level Members and ending with our Helper Level Members. After registration has been offered to all member levels, any remaining seats will open to non-members for registration.

Is this only for homeschoolers?

Absolutely not! We welcome all students. Many of our academic classes are offered during traditional school hours, so those classes are going to be aimed more for homeschooling families. We have classes and activities that traditional education school students can attend as well that are offered during summer months, school holidays, and occasional weekend events. Along with classes, we offer field trips to The Country Schoolhouse for any students. If you're interested in your class, Sunday School group, Girl Scout Troop, Boy Scout Troop, or any other type of group coming to visit us and experiencing a farm-environment learning opportunity, check out our field trips page under the Services Tab at the top of the page.

What do you offer for homeschoolers?

  • Supplemental & Enrichment classes to add to your core subject studies  (i.e. Arts & Crafts, Music Appreciation, Drama, Homesteading Classes, Farm Education and demonstrations)
  • Socialization and Fellowship Opportunities (Holiday Parties, Tweens & Teens Meet Ups, Mom's Night Out)
  • Monthly Field Trips
  • Homeschool Consultations (Choosing a curriculum that best meets your family's needs)
  • Yearbook of School Year Activities & School Pictures
  • Standardized Testing (ITBS)
  • Tutoring

What do you offer for non-homeschoolers?

  • Tutoring
  • Day Camp Unit Studies (On school holidays & weekends)
  • Farm Event Days (Fishing on the Farm, Star Gazing Night)
  • Field Trips to the Farm
  • Facility Rental

What exactly are you guys?

We get asked this question a lot. Our name is long and confusing- The Country Schoolhouse Education Resource Center or The Country Schoolhouse at Beaver Creek Farm, whichever version you've seen, you're still probably asking, "What are you guys?" The answer is not as easy as you might think. We are a growing, education resource center, located on our farm, where we offer academic and homesteading classes with an agriculture emphasis. Still confused? That's ok. We are here to support education in any aspect we can. From tutoring math and language arts, to showing kids how to care for animals on a farm or even their own backyard, we want to be a resource for learning in our community and help get families the information and resources they are seeking to meet whatever educational goals they may have for their family. There is not a specific right answer to exactly what we are, because what we're doing here is a bit new, a bit different, and a bit out of the box. If you're still confused, come out and visit our facility and see what we're all about.

What age ranges do your activities facilitate?

Our activities range in ages from 4-18 years old. Each class has an age range listed in its description. Our farm events are open to all ages as well as our field trips. We are steadily growing our programs each year, and as we do so we are growing the age range that we facilitate. We have grown the programs organically as we have had students age into new ranges.

Do you rent your facility?

Yes, we do. We have two options for rental in either 2 or 4 hour time frames. Check out all of the details on the facility rental page located under the Services Tab at the top of the page. There are options to rent just the facility, or to book an event with us leading activities for you.

Can we go on field trips and the annual travel-schooling trip if we're not members?

No, membership is required to participate with all of our field trips and the annual travel-schooling trip. The reason for this is that it takes a lot of time to organize and plan all of our outings. In some instances, trips require pre-payment or deposits for groups. We take on the risk of incurring those costs and spending the time planning as a service benefit to our members of The Country Schoolhouse. We value our members and want to go above and beyond to provide enriching opportunities for them.

Can we attend holiday parties or teens & tweens social events if we're not members?

No, membership is required to attend these social events. The Country Schoolhouse offers these activities as another awesome member benefit.
